Consignments to BFPO addresses via Commercial Receipts

To avoid disappointment and frustration please read the following information.

Any company using the British Forces Post Office (BFPO) to deliver parcels to customers at BFPO locations may only do so under one of the following options:

  • Applying postage at the appropriate (HM Forces) rate and physically posting the item at a Post Office. This allows for the onward shipment cost.  (Documentation required ParcelForce World-wide PFU 5 Despatch Pack.)
  • Use an independent carrier for the inland journey. Then be in direct contract with the BFPO for the onward shipment to the BFPO customer.
  • Deliver items to the BFPO using your company's own transport. Then be in direct contract with the BFPO for the onward shipment to the BFPO customer.
  • Enter into a contract agreement with *ParcelForce for the inland journey to BFPO. Then be in direct contract with the BFPO for the onward shipment to the BFPO customer.
  • Enter into contract with *ParcelForce under their "One-Stop-Shop".

This allows for the onward shipment to the BFPO customer.

Returned by ParcelForce

a. Any of the above

b. Incorrect documentation - Requirement:

  • PFU 132 ParcelForce Despatch Pack.
  • PFU 163 International Schedule service indicator.

(This documentation is automatic if the company is under the correct contract with ParcelForce to process into the BFPO system).

NOTE: Many companies are in contract with ParcelForce for collections of goods direct from their premises for addresses in the UK mainland only. This does not allow for the correct documentation or onward shipment cost to the BFPO customer. Speak to your Parcelforce representative for further information.
